ARTIST STATEMENT
Morgan Turner works with painting as a process of constructing and destabilising images.
Figures are established, interrupted and partially removed. Bodies coexist with exposed grounds, displaced fragments and traces of previous decisions. Representation remains present without becoming fixed.
The paintings develop through successive acts of addition and reduction. Some passages are retained; others are covered, displaced or left unresolved. The resulting image remains provisional, suspended between recognition and dissolution.
Drawing, installation and photographic material extend these operations beyond the canvas.
